Rooted in Jesus in Kiteto, Tanzania : report on the SOMA conference held in November 2007
Bishop John Hayden writes:
Kiteto Christian College recently hosted a major training seminar for our Rooted in Jesus course for leaders. We are very grateful to Alison Morgan, on this her fourth visit to Kiteto, for bringing along a supporting team, and to the Revd Michael Samuel, our SOMA groups organiser, who had the considerable task of bringing together our leaders. We held two three-day seminars. At each seminar there were 75 existing leaders and slightly more potential leaders. In total 320 men or women had to be found food and a place to sleep. We pitched tents in our grounds and filled every available area in the three dormitories, which were already fairly full with students on other courses. The participants arrived and left on two lorries, which were the only viable way of making sure so many were picked up and taken back at the right time. The cooks did a remarkable job serving meals on time for so many people. Our biggest problem was water.
The aim of this training is to double the number of those attending our Rooted in Jesus courses. Enthusiasm is high and, as we have proved from the infant schools and literacy classes, once the people of Kiteto get the message, with Godís help remarkable advances happen.
All of those attending were individually prayed for, and many had wonderful testimonies of God at work in their lives. We praise God for his continued blessings upon us.
